According to Kat O’Brien of Newsday, the Red Sox are fully engaged in the A.J. Burnett sweepstakes.

Giardi and I have made it clear our stance on Burnett. Here and here, respectively. Hopefully, this is just Theo Epstein’s way of making the Yankees shell out more money. Because if Boston pays good money for this career contract-year pitcher, I’ll quit. Not my job. But maybe something that I really enjoy. Well, probably something that I sort of enjoy. Like watching Las Vegas on USA.
