Mic’ed Up on Memory Lane

Posted by Mike Giardi November 21, 2008 at 9:21 am

Was just looking at the Miami Herald to see if I could unearth any nuggets about this Sunday’s Pats/Fins game, and the only thing that stood out to me was the temperature. It will be a balmy 76 degrees today in South Florida. I don’t know if I’d kill for that kind of weather, but I’d at least hit ‘em with my patten-ed double ax-handle, learned from years of watching “The Macho Man,” Randy Savage. Savage was a genius, not just in the ring, but with the mic.

Just looking that up on YouTube has now sent me down memory lane. And who doesn’t love that? I was a wrestling junkie back in the day. I go back to when they used to put the big red “X” over the screen, so you couldn’t see Blackjack Mulligan lay waste on some jobroni. Good times.

I don’t know why these guys don’t have their own talk show. Forget about Hannity and Colmes, or Oprah. Heck, the ladies are the view are boring when you compare ‘em to HBK, 82-year old Ric Flair and the gang.

Of course, The Rock may have been my favorite. I liked him so much that I’ve claimed he’s not a bad actor. And if you’ve seen his films, you know that I must be an apologist.

And finally, for years I used to go around head-butting my brother (that explains it!). I owe it all to one of the real unknown greats in the squared circle, with a haircut that never caught on but damn, it should have!

Have a great Friday.
