Coco Crisp KC Bound.

Confirmation has been made.

UPDATE: The Red Sox have confirmed the trade.
They receive right handed reliever and setup specialist Ramon Ramirez in return for Crisp.

Here is a look at Ramirez’s 2008 numbers: (3-2), 2.64 ERA, 70 K’s in 71.7 IP

What does this mean for the Red Sox?

After talking it over with my boss, Ted McEnroe, this is what I think:

– The Red Sox are in the market for a big bat. The movement of Crisp opens up one outfield spot, and one spot in the order.

– The Red Sox are trading Justin Masterson for said big bat. The addition of Ramirez would eliminate the need of Masterson in the setup role.

– The Red Sox are putting Masterson in the starting rotation, and are ready to hand Jacoby Ellsbury the starting center field spot.

– The Red Sox were tired of having Crisp unhappy with his playing time, and got what they could for him. Any speculation otherwise is stupid.

How do you see this trade changing the Red Sox you know today, if it actually goes down?
