Celtic Pride

With all due respect to the Red Sox, it’s so nice for once to be in April, having the Celtics to talk about.  It’s fresh and it’s exciting, especially for a guy like me who grew up watching the old big three of Bird, McHale and Parish.   And especially for a guy like me who’s been in the news business for 13 years and experienced 1 legitimate Celtics playoff run.  I’ve always been a Celtics guy at heart and if you would’ve told me a year ago when the C’s got the 5th pick in the lottery that they’d be where they are today - I’d have said you’re crazy.  My expectations for this team once they got KG and Ray Allen changed from “I hope they can make the playoffs” to “I hope they can compete with Detroit”.  Now - not only can they do that - but it seems like there isn’t anyone they can’t beat.   We all know the playoffs are a whole different animal - but I think the C’s will respond and at least come out of the East.  If they don’t make the Finals or win it for that matter, is this season a failure?  I’d bet many of you would probably say yes.  I’d say no.  In fact, I’d go as far to say that If they lose in the first round of the post season - it’s still a success.  Why?  Because they’ve brought back a buzz about hoops in this city and it’s what the Celtics hard core fans have wanted for years.
