Collins checking in on way to Fenway

Now what? The day after the Red Sox broke out all the stops celebrating their second title in four years. Now what? Today there will be no Bill Buckner, no Neil Diamond, certainly not another home opener until 2009. The rings handed out, the banner raised, now what? Well today instantly becomes all about Jon Lester. The Sox are back to .500 and where their three and four start was certainly no reason to panic, it was a time to find out if the guys who are being counted on so heavily to perform as starting pitchers can string together quality starts.
We know all the guys in the rotation, after of course the ace Josh Beckett, can be very good but also very bad. Yesterday was a big step forward for Daisuke, as he demonstrated magnificent command for the second straight start. Now can Jon Lester do the same? Detroit is really struggling, so the opportunity is there for the starters to gain some confidence and some momentum heading into the weekend series with the Bombers.
