When it comes down to it, the Big Four of the Boston Celtics, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo, didn’t just help bring the team their 17th title in 2008 (and first since 1986), they also helped bring a franchise that was struggling for relevance back on top. While Celtics reached the Finals once again in 2010, you could argue that the team’s 2012 run to the Conference Finals were among their most impressive. Because of their age, no one thought they would make it that far. With this in mind, it’s weird to see that the “Big Four” is no more as Ray Allen took his talents to South Beach as a member of the Miami Heat.
While there are a lot of good memories of Ray Allen in Celtic green, there is going to be a good amount of hurt feelings not only that he left, but that he left to go to a rival. In a sense, this is the second time in just over two months that the Heat punched Celtic fans in the gut. While Celtic fans may say goodbye to their beloved Ray Allen, there is a good amount of them that don’t wish him well.
